Instructional Design

During my time as an instructional designer, I’ve been given great opportunities to explore different types of learning needs and solutions, using mostly the ADDIE model, CRI methodology, and Agile processes.

Learn more about my experience by taking a look at some of the fun projects below! Remember, these are a representation of what has been done in the past, I’m continually innovating and striving for new and different.

“The goal is for learners to leave a learning
experience believing it was worth their time.”

-Rebekah Olejnik

eLearning

After identifying that an eLearning is the right solution, my focus is to provide a learning experience that the end user would find engaging and helpful. If at all possible, I am placing them directly into the situation or building the situation for them to be a witness to and active participant.

Fun with JavaScript

When a learning solution offers the opportunity for getting fancy, or requires it, I like to stretch what’s been done and reach for new and different.

Digital Card Sort

Tasked with bringing a physical card sort to a digital format, in partnership with a fellow ID, we created a Storyline course that not only allowed the drag and drop digital card sort to come to life, but I was able to implement JavaScript to pull out the individual learner’s data into color coded pie charts so they could better understand their results.

Supportive Learning Assets

They are many learning assets that solve the need of our learners. I love to create any and all of them!

Infographics

To support the Michigan Scan Award learning experience I created in Rise as a hybrid course and guide, I created an infographic to use with the interactive hotspot block for learners to click to learn more.

Job Guides

In an effort to meet the mobile demand of learning content, traditional Word job guides have been transformed into interactive experiences using Rise.

Interactive Resources

There are so many options with Rise, one option I developed was a leadership resource for engaging team members in a hybrid working environment.

Hybrid Course and Interactive Guide

Here is the hybrid Rise resource I developed for the Michigan Scan Award learning solution. It serves a dual purpose as both an assigned course that is locked down with required knowledge checks and offered unlocked as a job guide.

Course Resource Guides

As a companion to instructor led, blended, and eLearning courses, I often develop resource guides that provide both a refresh and additional detail to support learning objectives. This is the companion to the Dangers of Confined Spaces course I created for safety and compliance.

Videos

Creating video scripts, shot lists, organizing camera crews, soliciting for vendors, shooting videos myself, or developing animated versions is FUN! Below is an example of a Vyond video I developed for the Michigan Scan Award learning experience. Unfortunately, all live-action videos that have been developed contain proprietary information that must be kept confidential.

Instructor Led Training Course Materials

After developing synchronous learning, I’ve learned the importance of considering the facilitator’s needs to understand the why behind the concepts of the content and how to respond to participants in a way the reinforces the course objectives. It’s also an amazing creative opportunity to craft ways for participant’s to stay engaged, absorb the content, practice, and apply learning objectives. My goals with ILTs is to make it so engaging they don’t have time to think about getting an email sent off!
